Greco Performs in “All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914”
Voice Faculty member Daniel Greco performs in All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914, a poignant musical performance that recounts the historic Christmas truce between enemy soldiers during World War I. Through moving melodies and narration, the production explores themes of peace and humanity, offering a powerful tribute to this brief but remarkable moment of unity amidst the horrors of war.
Austin Performs at Midwest Clinic
LSM student Austin (LSM 2023–present) will perform with his high school band, the Dawson High School Wind Ensemble, at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago on December 18. This incredible opportunity showcases the hard work of Austin and his ensemble as they take the stage at one of the world’s premier music education conferences.
Alumni Dr. Jeff Held, Releases Musical Devotional Guide
LSM alumni and Concordia University Irvine music professor, Dr. Jeff Held (LSM '90, '92, Counselor '96, '97, and former Board member) has recently released a new book titled, Listening to the Sacred Seasons: Music and Commentary to Accompany Your Devotional Journey from Epiphany through Easter.
Fellows Aiden and Johanna Perform in St. Olaf Christmas Festival
Two LSM 2024 voice fellows, Aiden Kocian (League City, TX) and Johanna Makela (Cologne, MN) performed in the 2024 St. Olaf Christmas Festival. Under the direction of Dr. Anton Armstrong, the St. Olaf Choir offered a vibrant performance of Ding Dong! Merrily on High, a French carol arranged by Carolyn Jennings.
Thomas Co-Hosts on Classical MPR
Thomas Baker-Trinity (LSM 2021-2024) was a Project DJ co-host for classical Minnesota Public Radio on December 6, 2024. During his hour, Thomas talked about LSM and presented a request sent in by Naomi Tracy-Hegg (LSM 2023-24).
Beert and Handlin Lead Messiah
LSM Cello Faculty Michael Bert, conductor of the Rockford Choral Union, led two performances of Handel’s Messiah at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Rockford, IL. LSM Violin Faculty and Alum Rachel Handlin served as concertmaster.
Alum Elizabeth Winslow Selected to Participate in Sphinx LEAD Program
Elizabeth Winslow (LSM 2004-2005) has been selected to participate in Sphinx Organization’s LEAD program. Winslow will join a small cohort of arts leaders in a two-year program designed to empower executive arts leaders who are committed to advancing excellence and inclusion in the arts.
Alum Matthew Yee, of U.S. Coast Guard Band, Performs Internationally
Matthew Yee (LSM Student 2017-2018, LSM Fellow 2021-2022) won the euphonium audition with the U.S. Coast Guard Band in February. Since then, he’s been on a national tour through the Midwest, played several concerts in Connecticut at the Coast Guard Academy, and performed in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Caleb Performs in Peoria Symphony Concert
LSM student Caleb (LSM 2023-24) recently performed in a flute choir at the invitation of Stefan Ragnar Höskuldsson, principal flute of the Chicago Symphony. The ensemble played during the opening concert of the Peoria (IL) Symphony. He was the flute choir's youngest (and only high-school player)! Congratulations, Caleb!
First Lutheran Hosts ‘LSM Sunday’
Sunday, November 17 is ‘LSM Sunday’ at First Lutheran Church of Norfolk, VA. They are partnering once again with Young Musicians Partner congregations around the country, in raising awareness of LSM and its transformational experience.

Doebler Conducts Windiana, Professional Concert Band, Nov. 21
Dr. Jeffrey Scott Doebler (LSM Festival Band) will conduct the Windiana Concert Band, a professional wind ensemble, in concert on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7:30pm.
Morton Performs in UL Lafayette Showcase
In mid-September, Dr. Paul Morton (LSM Trumpet & Jazz Faculty), along with several faculty and alumni from the School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette hosted a free showcase concert titled, “Promenade Musicale.”
Sütterlin Takes Concordia Orchestra on Tour to Memphis Oct. 25 - Nov. 3
