Sousa Tribute Concert at Valparaiso University April 26

Dr. Jeffrey Scott Doebler (LSM Festival Band) will lead the 27th Annual Sousa Tribute Concert on Saturday, April 26 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University. The concert features the Valparaiso Community/University Concert Band, Luce Concert Band, and Chamber Concert Band, in a celebration of John Philip Sousa’s enduring musical legacy.

Guest artists include Seth Carlson (LSM Student Life Director 2023–2024), conductor of the Miami Sousa Band, who returns as guest conductor and organist; Emily Yiannias, soprano and trumpet soloist Mary Beth Mihevc ’25.

Sousa’s deep ties to Valparaiso—where he performed four times with his band—are honored through this annual tradition, which also highlights his contributions to music education, performance, and innovation.
