Doebler and Windiana in Costa Rica

Windiana performing at the Basilica in Cartago, Costa Rica

The Windiana Concert Band, directed by Dr. Jeffrey Scott Doebler (LSM Festival Band), recently celebrated its 25th season with an inspiring tour of Costa Rica. This marked Windiana’s 15th tour and included performances in La Fortuna, Punta Leona, and the breathtaking Basilica de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles in Cartago.

Highlights included the premiere of Patriótica Costarricense, arranged by Costa Rican native Dr. Diego Piedra. The tour also featured saxophone soloist Dr. Stacy Maugans and guest conductor Laura Johnson Doebler.

LSM connections were strong on this tour! Alumni and faculty participants included:

  • Jeffrey Scott Doebler (Band/Handbell Choir Conductor)

  • Laura Johnson Doebler (Former Dean of Students)

  • William Doebler (Alum: 2009-2011)

  • Stacy Maugans (Saxophone Faculty)

  • Rebecca Christine Quesada (Alum: 2000-2003)

  • Sarah DeRossi (Counselor: 2013-2015)

Beyond their performances, Windiana embraced cultural exchange, visiting Costa Rica's historic and natural landmarks while fostering connections through music.
