Matthew Jahnke is a dynamic bassist and educator, currently serving as the Lutheran Summer Music (LSM) Professor of Double Bass. He earned his B.M. in Double Bass Performance and Music Education from Lawrence Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the guidance of Mark Urness. As a former LSM participant, Matthew has a personal connection to the program and its values. He is also the orchestra teacher at Cheney Middle School, where he inspires young musicians and fosters a love for music. Matthew performs regularly with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, Wonderland Orchestra, FM Opera, and has also performed with the Fox-Valley Symphony Orchestra, contributing to the vibrant cultural landscape of the region. In addition to his ensemble work, he is a passionate private lesson instructor, dedicated to guiding students on their journey with the double bass. Matthew’s blend of teaching and performance expertise has established his role as a prominent member of the vibrant musical scene in the community.
