The risk-free application includes get-to-know you questions, and submitting a video audition link. See audition requirements.
Once your application is submitted, LSM Admissions will contact you to inform you of your status. If accepted, pay the $300 deposit within 30 days to secure your place. If waitlisted, no payments are due until placement is offered.
If you’ve already started an application or been accepted, visit your LSM Dashboard to complete your application, make payments, or update your information.

Application Deadlines & Tuition Schedule
The LSM academy is designed for a capacity of 150 students. Each instrument area also has capacity limits. Spots often fill before the final deadline and tuition rates increase through the year, so we encourage all interested students to apply as early as possible.
August 1, 2026 - Early Enrollment | $2,845 Tuition

Priority Tuition Rate ($2,995 Full Session / $2,195 Half Session)
Full Session students who apply or re-enroll between August 2 - December 1, 2026 will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Half Session students who apply or re-enroll between August 2 - December 1, 2026 will be accepted after December 1.
Students not accepted will waitlisted and offered placement if a spot becomes available.

Full Session students who apply between December 2, 2026-March 1, 2027 will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Half Session students who apply between December 2, 2026-March 1, 2027 will be accepted after March 1.
Students not accepted will be added to a waitlist, and offered placement if a spot becomes available.

Late Tuition Rate ($3,195 Full Session / $2,395 Half Session)
Full Session students who apply between March 2, 2026-May 1, 2027 will be accepted on a rolling basis for remaining instrument openings as announced in March. All other applicants will be waitlisted and offered placement if a spot becomes available.
Half Session students who apply March 2, 2026-May 1, 2027 will be automatically waitlisted, and may be contacted after May 1 if a spot becomes available.
Audition Requirements

One vocal solo work demonstrating technical skills and musical expression (two minutes)
Two scales (one major/one minor) scales sung on open vowel, numbers, or solfege (1-2 octaves)
Keyboard accompaniment is great, but not required

One instrumental solo work or excerpt demonstrating technical skills and musical expression (minimum two minutes)
Two scales (one major/one minor), two octaves preferred

Demonstrate technical skills (i.e., rolls, drags, paradiddles, flams, etc.) and musical expression on 2-3 percussion instruments. Snare, mallet instruments, and timpani preferred.

One solo work or excerpt demonstrating technical skills and musical expression (minimum two minutes)
Two scales (one major/one minor), two octaves minimum
Keyboard students are required to participate in a large ensemble and must submit one solo work on another instrument or voice. Less experienced vocalists may sing a one-octave scale on "la" and the melody of a familiar hymn or folk tune.

Students who are auditioning for primary composition placement must submit:
Two sample manuscripts of their original work. Manuscripts can be sent via email or mail and will not be returned. All submissions must be in written form; recordings will not be accepted.
An audition recording of their secondary instrument or voice for large ensemble placement.
Refunds
If a student withdraws:
On or before December 1, 2026: a 100% refund will be provided for families, including the deposit.
On or before March 1, 2027: a 100% refund will be provided for families less the deposit. Local funds from churches or other community organizations will also be refunded as requested.
On or before June 1, 2027: a 50% refund will be provided for families less the deposit. Local funds from churches or other community organizations will also be refunded as requested.
After June 1, 2027: No refunds will be provided.
Additionally, once the academy is in session, in any event that you are dismissed or you decide to withdraw for any reason, fees will not be refunded. It will be your responsibility to repay or otherwise keep good faith with congregations or other persons who contributed financial support directly to you. Lutheran Music Program is not responsible for repayment or refund of any funds which were not awarded directly by the Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival.
